Job Summary
Schedules, greets, registers and instructs patients for appointments, collects payments/co-payments for appointments. Provides cross coverage to referral department. collects payments/co-payments for appointments.
Job Qualifications
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent
- Personal job-related skills: Ability to read and write.
- Licensure, registry or certification: None required
- Prior Work Experience: One year experience in an office environment
- Technical Training: None required
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of position require intermittent, walking, sitting, standing and lifting up to 40 pounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedules, greets, registers and instructs patients for appointments in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Promptly obtains and verifies patient information and any other pertinent information required to initiate insurance claim. Accurately enters and updates patient demographics and insurance information in system in a timely manner.
- Verifies insurance information and documents accordingly.
- Navigate and use third party websites to collect and verify insurance information.
- Answers multi-line telephone promptly and courteously. Routes calls and takes messages as necessary.
- Collects payments, totals daily receipts and balances deposit.
- Provides financial information options to patients and schedules with financial counselor as needed.
- Maintains availability and accuracy of medical records by promptly filing lab and x-ray reports and other relevant documents.
- Schedules referral appointments at the direction of medical provider to provide continuity of patient care.
- Receives referral form from medical provider to provide continuity of patient care.
- Obtains insurance information and contacts carrier for authorization if appropriate.
- Calls requested consultant to schedule an appointment within timeframe indicated.
- Contacts patient with appointment information.
