Rural Health Clerk
Job Summary
Schedules referral appointments at the direction of medical provider to provide continuity of patient care. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.
Job Qualifications
- Education: High School or equivalent
- Personal job-related skills: Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Licensure, registry or certification: None Required
- Prior Work Experience: One year in a medical clinic environment
- Technical Training: None required
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of position require intermittent walking, sitting, standing and lifting up to 40 pounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedules referral appointments at the direction of medical provider to provide continuity of patient care.
- Receives referral form from medical provider to provide continuity of patient care.
- Obtains insurance information and contacts carrier for authorization if appropriate.
- Calls requested consultant to schedule an appointment within timeframe indicated.
- Contacts patient with appointment information.
- Copies all pertinent medical records and mails or faxes to consultant
- Cross trains to provide support to business office and medical records
